Job SummaryJoin Wye Valley NHS Trust as a Band 5 Senior Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Ward Based Services and play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical care across our medical and surgical wards at Hereford County Hospital. Working as an integral member of the ward-based pharmacy team, you will support medicines optimisation through medicines reconciliation, assessing patients' own drugs, facilitating timely discharges, providing medication counselling, and ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines. You will work closely with pharmacists, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes, safety and flow across the hospital. We are looking for a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician with an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification, strong hospital pharmacy experience, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care. Main functions of the jobTo work under the direction of the Lead Clinical Pharmacist and Lead Clinical Pharmacy Technicians for Ward Based Services, following established policies, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures. Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent OR BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy services or a recognised equivalent qualification to allow for compulsory registration.
- Nationally recognised Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification or included as part of the Pharmacy Technician qualification post 2022
- Recognised, current high level Medicines Management qualification or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
- Evidence of CPD
SkillsEssential- Demonstrable knowledge of medicines optimisation processes including medicines reconciliation, discharging and patient counselling in a hospital setting
- Ability to react to and manage the changing situation within the department on a daily basis and manage staff accordingly
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- IT literate in Word, PowerPoint and Excel or equivalent programs. Excellent keyboard skills
- Excellent time management skills.
ExperienceEssential- Post registration experience in a hospital pharmacy
- Experience of clinical audit
Desirable- Experience of project management.
- Proven experience of creating and delivering training packages to multi disciplinary groups
- Experience of leading on personnel selection, managing teams and individuals.
