Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist to join our Band 6 rotational programme at Scarborough General Hospital. This post offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills across Surgery, Critical Care and Medicine whilst working within a supportive and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team.

This rotational role is ideal for a physiotherapist looking to broaden their acute clinical experience, enhance leadership and supervision skills, and develop expertise in the management of complex patients across a range of specialties.

Main duties of the job
  • To work collaboratively as part of the team to support the delivery of high-quality therapy services across critical care and surgical caseloads, working closely with the senior leadership team.
  • To provide specialist guidance and advice to therapy staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • To use patient-centred approaches to patient care.
  • To participate in and provide clinical and management supervision.
  • To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working.
  • To contribute to and lead on service improvement and quality initiatives.
  • To contribute to educational teaching programmes for Respiratory on-call training.
  • To use the Trust electronic patient record system.
  • To abide by all Trust policies and procedures.
  • To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential
  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
  • Evidence of post graduate training within specialist area
Desirable
  • Practice placement supervisor qualification

Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential
  • Experience of working in relevant junior role within surgical and critical care or high dependency units, including the management of a range of conditions evidenced through acquisition of knowledge through training and supervision
  • Developed/specialist clinical skills within relevant area
  • Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations.
  • Experience in assessment and provision of specialist equipment
  • Delivery of relevant audit/service evaluation or research projects
  • Understanding of current issues in health care
  • Standards of Professional Practice
Desirable
  • Experience of working in a client-driven/NHS environment
  • Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
  • Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
