Job summary
The Registered Nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality respite care. The role includes leading and supporting junior staff, promoting safe and effective practice, and ensuring families receive compassionate, holistic, child-centred care. Main duties of the job
The Registered Nurse will work as part of a team providing specialised respite and palliative care, advising and supporting junior staff and care assistants to facilitate high quality, individualised care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. They will provide a safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led service to the families who access the hospice, to ensure that the children and families who access the service receive holistic family-centred care.

Zoes Place Baby Hospice provides 24-hour short breaks, specialist palliative care and end-of-life support for children aged 0-6 years, with flexibility to support some children up to age 8. You will be part of a caring, skilled team that creates a safe, welcoming and child-friendly environment for children and families.

Job responsibilities
  • Take charge on each clinical shift within a nurse led unit ensuring that staff are supported with and competent to carry out their workload.
  • Lead by example, role modelling high standards that reflect best practice guidelines, organisational policies and the hospice values.
  • Ensure good time management and punctuality and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • There is an on-call element to this role

Experience
Essential
  • Minimum of 1 years post-registration experience with experience of working in a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Desirable
  • Experience of working with children and families with complex needs and life-limiting/life-threatening illnesses.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Nurse

Desirable
  • Sound knowledge of the NMC Code and safe clinical practice

Skills Knowledges and Competencies
Essential
  • Professional, motivated, and conscientious approach
  • Able to work independently, use initiative, and make sound decisions
  • Strong teamworking skills and commitment to continuous professional development

Desirable
  • Experience supporting families through loss and bereavement
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge relating to children and adults

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable
  • Able to manage sensitive and challenging situations with professionalism
  • Compassionate, approachable, and professional manner

Other Requirements
Essential
  • Flexible to meet service needs, including days, nights, and weekends

Desirable
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries at all times
