Job summaryWe are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly team or Doctors and Nurses at Albion Street in SE16.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder would be required to work 3 days a week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). We welcome applicants who have experience in Asthma and COPD management and working in the busy treatment room.
About usThe Practice is in a good location being just a few minutes away from the Jubilee line at Canada Water and Rotherhithe Overground. We are a training practice providing placements for Doctors, Nurses and Medical Students. We are also a research practice. We look after 16,000 patients and strive to provide high quality patient care.
Job responsibilitiesEssential qualities are good communication skills, being able to work within the team and autonomously within your professional boundaries. We have daily de-brief meetings to support clinical staff and regular clinical/team meetings. Salary dependent on experience.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse (RN) with valid NMC registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
- Immunisation and vaccination training (or willingness to undertake)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Desirable- Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent
- Independent/Supplementary Prescribing qualification
- Chronic disease management qualifications (e.g., diabetes, asthma, COPD)
- Cervical cytology (smear) training
ExperienceEssential- Experience working in a primary care or GP practice setting
- Experience in wound care and dressings
- Experience in administering vaccinations and immunisations
- Experience in patient health promotion and education
- Experience managing long-term conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, hypertension)
Desirable- Experience of working in primary care
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- Experience with clinical systems (e.g., EMIS Web)
- Experience conducting cervical smears
- Experience in audit and quality improvement activities
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff
Knowledge and skillsEssential- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Good organisational and time management skills
