Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Practice Nurse or Locum Nurse to join our patient-centred practice based in Muswell Hill for 1-2 days per week.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Practice Nurse who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team and is committed to providing excellent care to our local community.

Main duties of the job

• Assess and treat minor injuries, provide wound care and dressings, and refer patients appropriately when required.
• Undertake cervical screening and deliver childhood and adult immunisations in line with national guidance.
• Support seasonal vaccination programmes, including influenza and other national campaigns.
• Deliver nurse-led clinics for patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and hypertension.
• Perform clinical procedures including venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring, spirometry, urinalysis, peak flow testing and specimen collection. Experience with ECGs and ABPM is desirable.
• Carry out NHS and practice health checks and support preventative healthcare initiatives.
• Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice, referring patients to appropriate services where necessary.
• Assist with maintaining chronic disease registers and effective call and recall systems.
• Work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver safe, patient-centred care.
• Act as a chaperone when required and support less experienced clinical colleagues where appropriate.
• Participate in clinical audits, infection prevention and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing training and continuing professional development.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care to our registered population, supporting health promotion, disease prevention, screening programmes, long-term condition management and treatment services. You will work closely with GPs, nursing colleagues and the wider practice team to provide safe, effective and evidence-based care while contributing to the continued development of clinical services.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
• Recognised qualification in General Practice Nursing.
• Competent in cervical cytology, immunisations and vaccination delivery.
• Experience managing patients with long-term conditions through nurse-led clinics.
• Experience implementing clinical guidelines and practice protocols.
• EMIS Web experience

Desirable

• Interest in teaching
