Join our dedicated Breast Imaging team as a Band 6 Mammographer and play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred breast imaging services across Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and compassionate mammographer to develop their specialist expertise while contributing to a service that makes a real difference to patients' lives.

As a member of the team, you will undertake mammographic imaging and support a wide range of assessment and interventional procedures within a modern symptomatic breast imaging environment. You will work closely with Consultant Radiologists/Mammographers, Breast Care Nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues helping to provide an efficient, responsive and high-quality service.

The post offers opportunities to expand specialist skills, contribute to service improvement and help shape the future of breast imaging services within the Health Board.

We are looking for a motivated professional who currently holds a PG Certificate in Mammography or equivalent, is passionate about delivering exceptional care and committed to continuous learning and innovation.

Main duties of the job
As a Mammographer you will perform high-quality mammography examinations supporting a range of specialist breast imaging and diagnostic procedures, ensuring excellent patient care, safety and experience at all times. You will work autonomously within your scope of practice while acting as a key source of specialist knowledge and support for colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with assessment clinics, supporting Practitioners during image-guided procedures and techniques and contributing to multidisciplinary patient pathways. You will provide reassurance and emotional support to patients throughout their breast care journey, often during sensitive and challenging situations.

You will contribute to the day-to-day organisation of the service, support quality assurance and governance activities, participate in audit and service development and play an active role in teaching, mentoring and supervising radiographers, assistant practitioners and students. The postholder will promote best practice, innovation and continuous improvement to ensure the delivery of a safe, effective and compassionate breast imaging service.

Qualifications & Professional Registration
Essential

• BSc in Radiography
• Post Graduate Qualification in Mammography (or working towards)
• HCPC Registration

Desirable

• Evidence of CPD

Mammography Knowledge and Expedrience
Essential

• Experience undertaking mammography examinations, assessment clinics, knowledge of breast imaging pathways and multidisciplinary working.

Desirable

• Experience undertaking interventional breast procedures.

Clinical Governance & Quality
Essential

• Demonstrable understanding of IR(ME)R and radiation safety

Desirable

• Evidence of participation in audit, QA/QC processes, risk management and service improvements

Leadership, Teaching & Supervision
Desirable

• Experience supervising staff, mentoring students, supporting service delivery, managing workload and acting as a specialist resource.

Communication & Patient Care
Essential

• Can give examples of compassionate patient care, supporting anxious patients, teamwork and communicating complex or sensitive information effectively.
