An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated paediatric research nurse to join our dynamic research nursing team. We are looking for a motivated individual with post qualification experience who is willing to learn and develop their skills in clinical research. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with an interest in clinical research and delivering clinical research in paediatrics and neonates, who can provide excellent clinical care to children of all ages and their families participating in research studies.

The role will involve assessing and managing care pathways for participants in research: including, recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants, providing support for research participants and their families and the accurate collection and documentation of data. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team, to support existing clinical trials and studies. You will also require a working knowledge and compliance with local, national and international research regulations including Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

This post is being advertised as a full time/part time permanent role. Secondment is an option too if preferred. Please seek approval for secondment with your line manager prior to applying.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the Children's Research Team and be responsible for the co-ordination and support of clinical research trials This will facilitate the production of high quality clinically based research aimed at improving the treatment of patients in Bradford.

The post will involve the recruitment of patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data throughout the patient's participation in the trial. As a research nurse you will be responsible for direct and indirect care, assessing and managing the care pathways of patients and carers, educating and supporting them and acting as their advocate at all times

The role will involve raising the profile of research and focusing on increasing the recruitment of patients into clinical trials on time and target. This in line with the objectives of the Department of Health, National Institute for Health Research, through the Regional Research Delivery Network; Yorkshire and Humber, research sponsors and funders.

Experience
Essential
  • Demonstrable ,recent paediatric nursing experience
  • Evidence of post qualification training
  • Knowledge of child protection issues in accordance with trust policy
  • Experience of audit/project management

Desirable
  • Previous Research Experience

Skills
Essential
  • IT skills - word, outlook, excel ,teams
  • Excellent organisation skills - including time management, staff and resource management
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex information

Desirable
  • Phlebotomy/cannulation skills

Knowledge
Essential
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
  • Understanding of clinical trial process

Qualifications
Essential
  • NMC Registered Nurse (Child)
  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing
  • Teaching/mentoring certificate/skills

Desirable
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training

Other requirements
Essential
  • Ability to work in various locations throughout the Trust, as required, and be able to carry out the physical elements of the post e.g. prolonged computer work and phlebotomy.
  • Able to manage portfolio of trials being able to prioritise workload of self and work independently without close supervision

Desirable
  • Awareness of Trust policies and procedures
