Job summary
An exciting job opportunity has arisen to join our Endoscopy Day surgery unit as a registered Staff Nurse on A414. The successful candidate will expect to be well motivated and enthusiastic, with a keen desire to join a busy team who pride themselves on delivering high standards of care. A414 offers a fast-paced service with four endoscopy rooms, admissions area and two second stage recovery areas, our own dedicated decontamination area and Endoscopy nurse on-call service. Patients attend our unit for various complex therapeutic Endoscopy procedures, we recover day case patient's that have undergone ENT and maxilla facial surgery, as well as day surgery patients from main Heygroves theatre. We are looking for candidates that have the skills necessary to support the multi professional team in facilitating excellent patient care throughout the Endoscopy Day surgery environment, with a specific interest in Endoscopy admissions or Recovery.

The variety of work carried out offers vast learning opportunities and having a flexible approach enables continuous personal and professional development prospects. Working hours are Mon to Fri 07:30 to 20:00, 24/7 rota on call service.

Main duties of the job
Demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in providing compassionate care for patients, visitors/relatives and colleagues. Contribute towards sharing good practice within the ward/department and Trust wide.

Communicate effectively within the team, participate in motivating and supporting team members and maintain confidentiality with patients and carers. Give written and verbal advice/teaching to patients and carers.

Work towards regularly taking charge of the ward/department on occasion prioritising workload according to changing clinical need over a 24 period.

Ensure nursing documentation is maintained, accurate and timely in line with the Trust standard

Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.

Promote a clean environment and the prevention of hospital acquired infection

Identify record and report all incidents/complaints involving staff, patients and visitors in accordance with Bristol NHS Foundation Trust policies and assist in any investigations as required.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential

• Knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment within the last 2 years

Desirable

• Experience of taking charge of a clinical setting on a regular basis
• Endoscopy and recovery experience

Qualifications and Training
Essential

• RGN 1st level nurse
• Current NMC Registration

Desirable

• Evidence of recent relevant continuous professional development
