Job summaryThe NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (South West) provides specialist gender related care and support to children and young people. Together, with other regional centres in London and the North West, we are commissioned by NHS England. We are initially taking patients from across England and Wales, but will become a more regionalised service for the South West and South Wales over time.
The successful candidate will provide expert physiotherapy assessment and intervention to children and young people presenting with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions/deconditioning and distress related to their physical body within the children and young peoples gender service. There will be a strong emphasis on supporting children to get back into developmentally appropriate activities. The postholder will work closely with a wide multi-disciplinary team including occupational therapists, clinical psychologists and social workers.
The postholder will take a lead role in the development of the service as a member of the multidisciplinary team and provide a source of expertise locally, nationally and internationally.
