Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated clinical scientist (radiotherapy physicist) to take on an exciting 8B role to drive the next phase of technological development within radiotherapy physics.

The successful applicant requires Healthcare Professions Council registration as a clinical scientist and significant experience in project development, technique implementation, and knowledge of dosimetry equipment, software and digital workflows.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential

• BSc degree or equivalent in Physics, Engineering or a related scientific discipline and a postgraduate qualification in Medical Physics or relevant branch of Physics to MSc level or equivalent
• Registered Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Qualified and recognised as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) as defined by relevant legislation
• Extensive specialist knowledge of and training in radiotherapy technologies and equipment, digital workflows, treatment planning systems and dose verification systems
• In-depth understanding of relevant legislation, professional standards and quality requirements, including IRR, IR(ME)R, ISO 9001, BSI standards and professional and regulatory body reports and guidance, and ability to work under such requirements
• Ability to analyse highly complex information and exercise judgement where there are multiple potential solutions or competing priorities, where variables may be, for example, scientific, technical, resource-management, patient safety and comfort or financial
• Extensive experience of working with radiotherapy technology, equipment, digital workflows, software, treatment planning systems and dose verification systems
• Experience leading or contributing to leading service development and implementation projects within radiotherapy physics that have influenced clinical practice, including training and governance requirements, and resource management
• Experience of staff supervision, management, training, mentoring and professional development
• Able to work independently, demonstrate sound professional judgement and exercise professional autonomy within agreed policies and professional guidelines, seeking support from the post-holders manager where necessary
• Highly organised and capable of managing multiple complex and competing priorities and deadlines involving multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Committed to patient safety and care, quality improvement, professional standards and continuing professional development

Desirable

• Ability to develop, modify or adapt software, scripts or information systems to optimise radiotherapy techniques and clinical applications
• Experience of representing organisations at regional or national professional groups
• Experience of contributing to strategic developments within radiotherapy physics
