Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part-time (0.51 WTE) Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our Outpatients team at Weston General Hospital, working within our Procedure Room.

This is a varied clinical role supporting patients attending for a range of outpatient procedures, including Hysteroscopy, Flexible Cystoscopy and Local Anaesthetic Transperineal Prostate (LATP) procedures.

You will work closely with nursing, medical and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to provide safe, compassionate and patient-centred care throughout the patient journey -- from preparation and reassurance before a procedure, through to support during the procedure and post-procedure care.

Previous experience within Outpatients, Urology, Gynaecology or procedural nursing would be advantageous, but is not essential. We are looking for a motivated Registered Nurse with strong clinical and communication skills and a willingness to develop the specialist competencies required for the role.

Main duties of the job
As part of the Outpatients Procedure Room team, you will:

• Assess, prepare and support patients before, during and following outpatient procedures.
• Assist with Hysteroscopy, Flexible Cystoscopy and LATP procedures, following appropriate training and competency assessment.
• Provide reassurance and compassionate support to patients throughout their care.
• Monitor patients, recognising and escalating deterioration or complications appropriately.
• Maintain high standards of patient safety, dignity, infection prevention and clinical documentation.
• Work collaboratively with nursing, medical and wider multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Support the safe and efficient running of procedure lists and develop the specialist competencies required for the role.

About You
We are looking for a Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration who is compassionate, organised and committed to providing an excellent patient experience.

You will have strong communication and teamwork skills, be able to prioritise effectively and confidently recognise and escalate clinical concerns.

Experience within Outpatients, Urology, Gynaecology or procedural care would be welcomed, although training and support will be provided to develop the specialist skills required.

Education and qualifications
Essential

• Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• Willingness to undertake specialist training and competencies relevant to the Procedure Room

Desirable

• Relevant post-registration clinical qualification/course
• Teaching, supervision or assessment qualification/experience

Knowledge, skills & abilities
Essential

• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
• Knowledge of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical governance
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Appropriate digital and IT skills

Desirable

• Knowledge of care associated with outpatient diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures

Experience
Essential

• Experience of delivering nursing care within a clinical environment, which may include experience gained as a student nurse
• Experience of caring for patients with a range of clinical needs

Desirable

• Previous Outpatients or procedural nursing experience
• Experience supporting diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures
• Experience within Urology, Gynaecology or a related speciality
• Experience supporting Hysteroscopy, Flexible Cystoscopy and/or LATP procedures
• Experience of audit, quality improvement or service development
