Job summary
Are you an experienced Paediatric Intensive Care nurse ready to take the next step in your career? This is an exciting opportunity to join our Band 7 team as a Sister/Charge Nurse in the PICU.

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate professional with a strong clinical background and a desire to lead. This role offers the chance to further develop your leadership and management skills while making a meaningful impact in a dynamic and supportive environment.

As part of this role, successful applicants will undertake the Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse development programme, designed to equip you with the tools and confidence to excel in a senior nursing role.

Main duties of the job
Applicants should have prior experience at Band 6 level and must hold a recognised Paediatric Critical Care course qualification.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Deliver specialised, high-quality nursing care to critically ill children
• Act as a leader and role model within the team, promoting professional development and clinical excellence
• Respond proactively to service changes and developments in clinical practice
• Take responsibility for the operational management of the unit, including effective budgetary control (pay and non-pay)
• Contribute to strategic and professional leadership across the wider Directorate

Education and Qualifications
Essential

• RSCN Part 8 / RN Child Branch Part 15 or RN (A)
• Paediatric Critical Care Course or equivalent Knowledge and Experience
• Degree in related area of clinical practice or clear evidence of degree-level study in the last two years (A)
• Teaching Qualification

Desirable

• Leadership and Management qualification
