We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Multi-Disciplinary Therapy Assistant to join the innovative Experts at Hand programme within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

Working as part of the Children and Young People's Integrated Therapy Service, you will support the delivery of a preventative, consultative model that strengthens inclusive practice across education settings. You will work alongside Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists to help education providers implement strategies that reduce barriers to learning, participation, communication and independence.

This varied role involves supporting observations, modelling strategies, developing resources, assisting with training delivery and helping education staff embed inclusive approaches within everyday practice.

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and an excellent communicator, with experience of working with children and young people and a commitment to inclusion. Main duties of the job
As a MDT Assistant within the Experts at Hand programme, you will support Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists to deliver consultation, training and targeted support across education settings throughout Buckinghamshire.

You will assist with observations, information gathering and the implementation of therapy recommendations within education settings. Under the guidance of registered therapists, you will model therapeutic strategies, support group activities and help education staff implement practical approaches that promote participation, communication, independence and inclusion.

The role includes preparing resources, supporting workforce training, contributing to classroom-based and whole-setting interventions, and helping schools develop inclusive practices. You will build relationships with education staff, families and partner agencies, providing clear feedback and maintaining accurate records of activities and outcomes.

You will contribute to service evaluation, audit and quality improvement activities that demonstrate the impact of the programme. Working independently within agreed competencies, you will manage a varied workload across community and educational settings while receiving support and supervision from experienced therapists.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

• Good general education to above GCSE level, e.g. NVQ Level 3 / Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience in health, education or children's services
• Additional training relevant to working with children and young people
• Evidence of continuing professional development

EXPERIENCE

• Experience of working with children and young people, preferably in a school or health setting
• Experience of working within education, health or social care settings
• Experience of supporting children with SEND
• Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Experience of supporting occupational therapy, physiotherapy or speech and language therapy services
• Experience of delivering or supporting training or group sessions

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

• Ability to work independently within delegated competencies and without direct supervision
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with good verbal and non-verbal communication
• Ability to build effective relationships with education staff, children, young people and families
• A clear and demonstrable understanding of the importance of confidentiality
• Understanding of SEND, inclusion, reasonable adjustments and the graduated approach
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
• Knowledge of child development and participation in everyday activities
• Good organisational and time-management skills, and the ability to prioritise
• Ability to demonstrate empathy and to motivate and encourage children with a range of needs
• Competent IT and record-keeping skills
• Practical problem-solving skills

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

• Ability to travel to numerous community and education settings across Buckinghamshire, with access to own transport
