Are you a Nursing Associate looking for a supportive team and the opportunity to develop new skills? We are looking to expand our fantastic nursing team and are would welcome applications from motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Nursing Associates to support the management of patients within the Harpenden & St Albans Locality.
This role offers nursing associates the opportunity to develop or expand clinical skills, including wound care, diabetes management and Palliative care. The role gives successful applicants the opportunity to take the first step into the community with opportunities to progress and develop within the organisation.
We are committed to offering successful applicants a structured and individualised induction and development plan, tailored to professional development needs, and existing transferrable skills.
Successful applicants will have access and support from our Induction Facilitator and Practice development nurses, who will support with initial and ongoing development and education.
Please note: To be eligible for this role, you must hold a Nursing Associate or Assistant Practitioner qualification or be an Apprentice Nursing Associate due to qualify within the next six months.
Main duties of the jobThe role requires you to be able to keep accurate clinical records and have good clerical/administrative skills.This post offers an excellent opportunity for Nursing Associates to further develop their clinical skills while gaining valuable experience in a community healthcare setting. We are committed to supporting professional development, providing a comprehensive training and education programme, alongside regular clinical and safeguarding supervision.Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver appropriate evidence-based nursing care to an allocated group of patients.
- Practise as an accountable professional, working in accordance with the NMC Standards of Proficiency and code of conduct.
- Recognise and work within the limits of your competence, seeking support and guidance when appropriate.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team using resources efficiently.
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality care to patients and work effectively within the nursing team
- Develop and maintain competence in a range of clinical procedures.
Working Pattern
- Participation in a seven-day service is required.
- Weekend working is included, with a maximum of three weekend days per roster period.
As this is a community-based role, with travel between patient homes, there is a requirement to hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

- IT awareness and ability to use NHS systems
- Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service development
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to an appropriate registered health or care professional
- Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact
