Job summaryWe are seeking a Band 6 Sexual Health Advisor to join our dedicated and supportive team. This part-time role is for 18.75 hours per week, worked between 8:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.Our Sexual Health Service offers confidential, inclusive, and non-judgemental care to people seeking advice, testing, treatment, and support for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.
Based at Falcon Road Sexual Health Centre, you will join a multidisciplinary team of consultants, doctors, nurses, health advisers, allied health professionals and administrative staff, working together to deliver high-quality care. Our service supports people attending for a range of needs, including:
- STI diagnosis and treatment
- HIV testing and support
- Vulnerable adults
- Young people
- Individuals requiring safeguarding or referral to specialist services
Working collaboratively with colleagues across CLCH, local acute hospitals, primary care, social care, safeguarding teams, mental health services, drug and alcohol services, HIV specialist services and community organisations, we ensure patients receive coordinated, holistic care.

Main duties of the jobThis role will include delivering confidential, inclusive and compassionate care to people accessing advice, testing, treatment and support for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV. You will be working with a diverse population and partner closely with:
- Acute hospitals
- Primary care
- Social care
- Safeguarding services
- Mental health teams
- Drug and alcohol services
- Community organisations
As a Sexual Health Adviser, you will provide:
- Specialist health advice and education
- Undertake partner notification
- Support patients diagnosed with STIs and HIV
- Deliver behavioural change interventions
- Assess and safeguard vulnerable adults and young people
- Provide HIV pre- and post-test discussions
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate services
You will be supported you through a comprehensive induction, regular clinical and safeguarding supervision, mandatory and specialist sexual health training, continuing professional development, annual appraisal, and opportunities to participate in clinical audit, service improvement, teaching and research. You will be encouraged to develop specialist expertise in sexual health, HIV care, safeguarding and public health, with opportunities to progress your career within CLCH

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- RGN or degree in relevant subject or relevant significant level of experience
ExperienceEssential- Previous experience working as a Health Adviser in a UK sexual health clinic
- Experience in Partner notification
- Experience in working 1:1 with patients in risk reduction
- Experience working with young people and other vulnerable groups
SkillsEssential- Good knowledge of STI's and HIV
- Evidence of knowledge of risk reduction models
- Ability to communicate well with patient on sensitive subjects
- Evidence of working with wider multi-disciplinary teams
Key AttributesEssential- Evidence of working on own initiative
- Evidence of working with minimal supervision
- Evidence of recognising stress within self and team and manage appropriately
- Understanding and flexible of working patterns and changing responsibilities
