Job summaryWe are looking for an HCPC registered Dietitian with experience of working in an acute setting to join our team as the Band 7 Acute Team Dietitian for our West Middlesex site.The role will be primarily based at West Middlesex Hospital, with cross site working at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. It will comprise of management responsibilities and an acute caseload. The current Acute Team Lead Dietitian is seconded for 2 days a week and the team require management support on those 2 days. The role will include cover of inpatient caseload and parenteral nutrition ward round.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be a clearly identifiable senior clinical staff member with supervisory responsibilities. They will have significant clinical experience, provide sound clinical expertise to their team and more junior staff and coordinate and deliver high quality care. They will be a role model for expert clinical care, and lead on specific projects / service developments and management functions as delegated by the Band 8 Dietitian or Clinical Lead Dietitian. They will role model the identified Trust values at all times. The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner in providing dietetic assessment, treatment and management to their own designated caseload of patients and to maintain up to date dietetic records. They will use evidence based principles and current best practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate dietetic interventions. The post holder will provide supervision, teaching and support to more junior staff, dietetic assistants and students on placement. Job responsibilities- The post holder will work as an integral member of the dietetic team, providing a highly specialist clinical dietetic service to patients in our hospital.
- Work both autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams to optimise care and implement highly specialised enteral and parenteral nutrition.
- The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality clinical services within the context of a clinical governance framework.
- The band 7 acute dietitian will be integral to promoting a high quality service to individuals requiring specialist needs and ensure that the services provided promote respect, dignity and equality for all people.
- To manage a highly complex caseload of patients requiring parenteral nutrition, assisting in service improvement projects in this area.
- To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of work, including the management of patients in your care.
- To be able to carry and prioritise your own designated clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner without direct supervision.

- Extensive relevant post registration experience at Band 6 level in core areas
- Experience in line Management and able to be deputised to department management
- Wide variety of clinical experience in TPN and ICU
- Experience of working as part of the MDT in clinical practice
- Evidence of ongoing CPD since qualification
- Evidence of participating and presenting in in-service training
- Experience in managing Gastroenterology patients, both inpatient & outpatient settings
