Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
About usWe are committed to providing accessible, high quality primary care to our 10,500 patients, situated in the heart of the beautiful Chew Valley, but are conveniently only 13 miles from Bristol and Bath, both of which are easily commutable.
We are a rural dispensing practice working out of our purpose built surgery, which opened in 2012. We are a training practice and teach all years of Bristol Medical students.
We enjoy our morning coffee break and lunch together, often with cake, which allows us to support each other, problem solve or simply chat about last nights TV. We are low visiting and our patients have excellent access with generally short wait times.
Job responsibilities- In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers.
- Assess and manage the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop care plans in consultation with patients and in line with Practice disease management protocols.
- Provide counselling and health education.
- Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate, including making arrangements for emergency admission when required.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to best practice information governance standards.
- Collect data for clinical and administrative audit purposes.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribe in accordance with the CCG prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
QualificationsEssential- GMC registered with a licence to practice
- Fully qualified GP on the GP Performers list
- Evidence of an up to date appraisal
