High Intensity Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT)

Job summary
Working within the Psychological Wellbeing Service, you'll support people experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties through evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), helping them improve their wellbeing and quality of life.

You'll join a supportive and experienced team focused on delivering high-quality psychological therapies. This role combines direct clinical work with opportunities to contribute to service development, supervision, and continuous improvement. Your work will help people access effective treatment, make informed choices about their care, and achieve meaningful recovery outcomes.

The post- holder will work in the service for 5 days of the week as part of a hybrid working model which is a split of face to face and remote.

Main duties of the job
What you'll do:

• Deliver high intensity CBT interventions for people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties
• Assess referrals, manage a specialist caseload, and develop personalised treatment plans
• Work collaboratively with service users, carers, colleagues and partner organisations
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit and evidence-based practice
• Take part in supervision, training and professional development activities, including working towards full accreditation where required

What we're looking for:

• A degree-level qualification and successful completion of an accredited High Intensity CBT training programme
• Provisional accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
• Experience delivering CBT-based treatments and managing a caseload
• Strong communication skills and a person-centred approach to care
• A commitment to inclusion, continuous learning and collaborative working

Qualifications
Essential

• Degree level qualification
• Successful completion of IAPT accredited training programme for Diploma in high intensity CBT therapy
• BABCP accreditation

Desirable

• IAPT accredited high intensity training in other evidence based practice areas

Knowledge
Essential

• Demonstrates an understanding of patient centred assessments and mental health clustering HONOS.
• Demonstrates an understanding of mild, moderate mental health issues and how it may present in Primary Care
• Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
• A sound knowledge of principles of CBT

Desirable

• Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health problems
• Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems

Experience
Essential

• Experience of delivering effective CBT based treatments with a variety of clinical presentations
• Evidence or working with people who have experienced a mental health /physical health problem using a CBT based therapeutic approach
• Experience of delivering psychoeducational group sessions
• Experience of adapting resources and practice to meet the standards of the accessible information standard
• Demonstrates high standards in written and verbal communication
• Experience of working in Primary Care Services
• Ability to manage own caseload and time
• Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
• Experience of working with social inclusion
• Evidence of working in the local community
• Experience of working with a dialogue translator
• Experience in providing effective clinical supervision to PWPS including caseload management
• Experience of working in Primary or secondary care mental health services
• Experience in developing psychoeducational programmes to support management of issues impacting on the client wellbeing
