Job summary
The new role will provide medicines management to the Bee at Home Care Team including training, audit, policy & process development. The successful candidate will work closely with the CHCP medicines service and the Bee at Home Care Team.

What you'll do:

• Provide clear medicines advice to patients, carers and healthcare professionals
• Deliver training and guidance on the safe handling and use of medicines
• Lead audits, review medicine systems and recommend practical improvements
• Investigate medicine-related incidents and share learning with relevant teams
• Help develop procedures, policies and projects that improve patient safety

Main duties of the job
What we're looking for:

• A qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
• Clinical knowledge of medicines, legislation and safe pharmaceutical practice
• Experience of dispensing, audit work and supporting change across teams
• Strong communication, organisation, analysis and digital skills
• A UK driving licence and access to suitable transport for work travel

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• Pharmacy Technician, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
• GPhC Technician Registered
• Evidence of on-going continuing personal learning/professional development

Desirable

• Completion of additional medicines management qualification or ability to study towards

Experience
Essential

• Experience in the dispensing process and preparation of medicinal products
• Able to successfully implement change in a multi-disciplinary team
• Audit and project work

Desirable

• Experience of primary care work
• Membership of appropriate groups, organisations etc.
• Familiarity with non-medical prescribing

Knowledge
Essential

• Demonstrate clinical understanding of drug use
• Awareness of law and good practice relating to storage and handling of pharmaceuticals
• Thorough working knowledge and understanding of primary care and medicines management issues
• Knowledge of Clinical Governance and of the concepts of clinical effectiveness and a commitment to evidenced based practice
• Knowledge and understanding of the BNF and Drug Tariff
• Knowledge and understanding of standard operating procedures
