Job summary
An exciting opportunity to join our expanding Diabetes, Endocrine and General Medicine Team here at Croydon University Hospital.

The post holder will work with the existing Consultants to develop the service, in particular, to support the other consultants in delivering a high quality service, with an opportunity to develop a sub-specialty and further enhance diabetic and endocrine services locally.

Main duties of the job
Croydon University Hospital wishes to appoint a Consultant Physician within Diabetes/ Endocrine and General Medicine. The Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated physician to join the team.

In addition to providing a diabetes/ endocrine service the role has a commitment to the acute medical take, in partnership with acute physicians.

• MB BS or equivalent
• Membership of the Royal College of Physician (MRCP) or equivalent

Desirable

• Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)

Higher Qualifications

• Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register on date of taking appointment via one of the following: a. Certificate of completion of training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b. Portfolio pathway (formerly known as Certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR)) c. Relevant European specialist qualification (REQ) OR Recognised Specialist Qualification (RSQ)

• Full registration with the GMC

Training and Experience
Essential

• Fully trained in Diabetes, Endocrinology & General (internal) Medicine
• Satisfactory completion of a higher specialist training programme in Diabetes & Endocrinology
• At least 2 years' substantive previous NHS experience at SPR level (or equivalent).

Desirable

• Prior experience of work at consultant (or equivalent) level in Diabetes / Endocrinology

• Experience in day to day organisation of services in a busy teaching hospital

• Experience in the development of clinical guidelines

• Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
