The post holder will work with the existing Consultants to develop the service, in particular, to support the other consultants in delivering a high quality service, with an opportunity to develop a sub-specialty and further enhance diabetic and endocrine services locally.
Main duties of the jobCroydon University Hospital wishes to appoint a Consultant Physician within Diabetes/ Endocrine and General Medicine. The Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated physician to join the team.
In addition to providing a diabetes/ endocrine service the role has a commitment to the acute medical take, in partnership with acute physicians.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- MB BS or equivalent
- Membership of the Royal College of Physician (MRCP) or equivalent
Desirable- Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
Higher QualificationsEssential- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register on date of taking appointment via one of the following: a. Certificate of completion of training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b. Portfolio pathway (formerly known as Certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR)) c. Relevant European specialist qualification (REQ) OR Recognised Specialist Qualification (RSQ)
RegistrationEssential- Name on Specialist Register on date of taking appointment
- Full registration with the GMC
Training and ExperienceEssential- Fully trained in Diabetes, Endocrinology & General (internal) Medicine
- Satisfactory completion of a higher specialist training programme in Diabetes & Endocrinology
- At least 2 years' substantive previous NHS experience at SPR level (or equivalent).
Desirable- Prior experience of work at consultant (or equivalent) level in Diabetes / Endocrinology
AdministrationEssential- Experience in day to day organisation of services in a busy teaching hospital
Desirable- Experience in the development of clinical guidelines
Management and LeadershipEssential- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to organise and manage work
- Understanding of the principles of clinical governance

AuditEssential- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.
