Job summaryThis is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Support Assistant to join our dynamic and ever evolving Northumberland Community Learning Disability Team.The post is in the West Team who are based in Hexham.The team is made up of a psychiatry, psychology, learning disability nurses, nurse associates, behavioural therapists and community support workers.We are a service offering intervention to Adults with Learning Disability. Working closely with family, carers and external organisations.This new role offers you the chance to be part of a team who pride themselves on offering mental health, physical health and behavioural support to people with a learning disability who live within the community. To implement and evaluate care within a framework as a member of the care team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this promotes recovery and wellbeing and maximises independence.
To support the team in providing excellent and effective person centred care.
To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
To actively engage with supervision and appraisal process as identified in Trust policy.

Person SpecificationJob DescriptionEssential- Completion of a competency-based programme within probationary period OR equivalent demonstrable experience
- Knowledge of care related procedures, clinical observation, relevant legislation
Desirable- Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject OR a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential- Previous care experience
- Person centred care approach
- Understanding of mental health and/or learning disabilities needs
- Safeguarding knowledge
- Awareness of carer needs
Skills and CompetenciesEssential- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to undertake PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Effective Time Management
Desirable- Ability to prioritise tasks
- Accurate record keeping skills
