Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) are delighted to offer an exciting Band 6 postwithin the Newcastle & Gateshead Crisis Team.

The post holder will be part of a team working under the crisis model and will be able to offer support universally across the WAA, OA and YP crisis teams where required. The successful candidate must have a track record of clinical experience in working with risk and complexity.

Main duties of the job
The Newcastle & Gateshead Crisis Team provides urgent mental health assessment and intervention to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. The team works 24/7 to deliver high-quality, responsive care and prevent hospital admissions where safe and appropriate.

As a development post holder, you will:

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering crisis assessment and care
• Develop your clinical decision-making, risk assessment, and crisis intervention skills
• Contribute to care planning and liaise with partner services
• Build confidence in autonomous practice within a supportive environment

What we are looking for
We are seeking candidates who:

• Have a strong interest in crisis intervention and acute mental health care
• Demonstrate excellent communication, assessment, and interpersonal skills
• Are committed to professional development and progression
• Can work flexibly as part of a 24/7 service

Experience in acute or community mental health settings is desirable but not essential.

Additional information

• This role involves shift work, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays
• Candidates must be able to travel as required across the service area

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
Essential

• Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
• Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post
• Mentor Training.
• Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
• Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
• Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.

Desirable

• Post Registration Qualifications in Psychological Interventions
• Experience of working within a community team.
• Non-Medical Prescribing

Knowledge and Experience
Essential

• 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
• Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.

Desirable

• Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours.

• Proven ability to complete comprehensive assessment of complex mental health needs
• Risk Assessment Skill & Management
