Job summaryCommunity Practitioner working within the Psychiatric Liaison Team. This will be an extremely exciting opportunity for any successful candidate and you will be joining an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated team. The Psychiatric Liaison Team for Sunderland are in a position to recruit and are therefore looking to recruit motivated and committed individuals. The service has a Full Time vacancy. The post holder will be part of a team, offering a 24/7 service completing assessments and treatments within the acute hospital setting. The successful candidate must have experience of working with individuals with a variety of mental health needs, and ideally have a track record of clinical experience in working with risk and complexity. The role requires sound clinical skills in all aspects of triage, assessment, formulation, management of risk and therapeutic interventions. The team offers a dynamic and exciting work environment that can be both challenging and rewarding. You would be working within a multi disciplinary team that are motivated in delivering high quality care for patients in an acute hospital setting, positive risk taking and completing safety plans to support clients considering appropriate pathways.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be expected to complete all aspects of Psychiatric Liaison Team workload, including the triaging of referrals, completion of holistic and comprehensive assessments and the treatment of patients who are in mental health crisis within the acute hospital. The successful candidate will also be expected to coordinate the shifts and manage the competing demands for the service.

Person SpecificationEducation and QualificationEssential- Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
- Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post
- Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
- Mentor Training.
- Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
Desirable- Post Registration Qualifications in Psychological Interventions
- Experience of working within a community team.
- Non-Medical Prescribing
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential- Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
- 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
Desirable- Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours.
