Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly Safeguarding Team as a Safeguarding Adult Advisor.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and experienced safeguarding team, helping to ensure that the Trust meets its responsibilities in relation to safeguarding adults at risk.

As a Safeguarding Adult Advisor, you will support the delivery of the Trust's safeguarding agenda by promoting best practice, implementing standards, and monitoring safeguarding processes in line with national legislation, statutory guidance, and local multi-agency procedures. The role provides excellent opportunities to broaden your experience, further develop your safeguarding knowledge, and make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the implementation and effective application of safeguarding adults policies and procedures, helping to achieve positive outcomes for adults at risk and ensuring the Trust meets its statutory obligations. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of robust safeguarding monitoring, governance, and assurance systems, supporting continuous improvement across the organisation.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about safeguarding, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and is committed to delivering high-quality support and advice to colleagues across the Trust.

The post holder will provide specialist safeguarding education, advice and guidance to both clinical and non clinical staff, supporting the Safeguarding Adults Lead and Named Professionals for Safeguarding in promoting best practice and ensuring compliance with statutory and organisational safeguarding requirements.

The post holder is responsible for preparing detailed and comprehensive safeguarding reports, including those relating to Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries, Domestic Homicide Reviews and Safeguarding Adult Reviews, ensuring that all reports are accurate, evidence-based and completed to a high professional standard.

The role also provides ongoing support to the Safeguarding Adults Lead and other safeguarding professionals in managing complex safeguarding issues, contributing to the development of safeguarding practice across the organisation and helping to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality services for adults at risk.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities: to include level of responsibility for:

• Lead and supervise the day to day implementation of safeguarding plans of care and evaluation of their effectiveness.
• Work in partnership with professionals, the adult and their families/ carers in order to support and encourage involvement in their safeguarding plan.
• Supervise and lead in challenging practice, and maintaining standards in relation to safeguarding ensuring guidelines and policies are adhered to within the inpatient setting
• Responsible for the identification of safeguarding concerns for patients and escalate as appropriate.
• Work without direct supervision and be responsible for the management of his/her workload within the hospital setting
• Attend and represent the Trust at appropriate internal and external meetings in relation to safeguarding.
• Be aware of the spiritual, psychological and emotional needs of the adult and endeavour to meet these at all times within the context of safeguarding them
• Act as a source of specialised knowledge and clinical expertise in relation to safeguarding.
• Support Trust staff on a day to day basis in the process of assessing risk in relation to safeguarding and the process of making a referral to the Local Authority if required.

Essential

• Registration on part 1 of the NMC register/or other professional body
• Diploma or degree in relevant subject
• Evidence of further and ongoing study at Masters level
• Safeguarding Supervision qualification
• Evidence of CPD

Desirable

• Management qualification
• Masters in relevant subject
• Teaching qualification

Knowledge and Skills
Essential

• Knowledge of Care Act 2014 in relation to S42 enquiries
• Knowledge of acts relating to safeguarding (e.g Mental Capacity, Domestic Abuse etc)
• Demonstrate a wide range of knowledge in relation to safeguarding adults.
• Knowledge of current professional, local and national policy issues in relation to Safeguarding.
• Excellent communicator both written and verbally
• IT Literate
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent teaching skills

Experience
Essential

• Previous experience in a healthcare or similar setting.
• Safeguarding experience
