This is a 12 month secondment opportunity planned to start in September 2026 for a registered nurse or allied health professional who has clinical experience of working with children and families within safeguarding.
As a post holder you will work with the Safeguarding Service to provide a service across Derbyshire that safeguards and promotes the wellbeing of children/young people and their families, including adults at risk. You will work within the service and support safeguarding workstreams including which includes delivery of the two commissioned services;- Safeguarding Children Triage Service and Starting Point Health Team.
Please note: It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager this is possible before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract.
Main duties of the jobWork within the Safeguarding Service to support safeguarding workstreams.
Triage and provide health information to support the delivery of the commissioned Safeguarding Children Triage Service this includes triage of health records, providing of health information and attendance at Locality Strategy Meetings.
Work within the commissioned Starting Point health team to analyse health information and attend strategy meetings alongside the multiagency integrated team.
Support the Safeguarding Service with chronologies, case file-based audits and information requests (adult and children).
Attend, contribute and give advice when required, to the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) related to safeguarding 'vulnerable' individuals, children and families.
Work as required with partner agencies, e.g. Social Care, Police, Acute Trusts, ICB etc
Support the Safeguarding Service to deliver the Trust safeguarding training in relation to safeguarding adult and children (Think Family).
The post holder will at times work in the Safeguarding Service base and the Starting Point base (Non DCHS premises).
Attend internal and external meetings, as required.

The post holder will safeguard and promote the welfare of adults and children in line with policy and to ensure that the organisation and staff complies with the same.
The post holder will work in partnership within the multiagency teams, in Starting Point, as the first point of contact for health. They will contribute to a high quality and efficient assessment process for children and young people in Derbyshire, allowing enquiries/referrals to be dealt with in a timelier manner. This will ensure families receive the right help at the right time by the appropriate service, resulting in the best outcomes for the child/young person, including attendance at Starting Point Strategy Meetings.
The post holder will be available to advise the Starting Point Social Care Team and partners in health about matters relating to referrals.
The post holder will work as part of the Starting Point multiagency team to analyse health information alongside the integrated team.

Attend, contribute, give specialist advice and contribute to safety planning when required, to the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) related to safeguarding vulnerable individuals, children and families.
To support DCHS staff that attend the MARAC meetings.
To support the Safeguarding Service to review records for strategy meetings, meetings, chronologies, case file-based audits and information exchanges (adult and children).
To contribute and support the Safeguarding Service to deliver the Trust safeguarding training and to ensure that they have the requisite knowledge in relation to safeguarding adult and children (Think Family).
Person SpecificationEducation, Qulaification and trainingEssential- 1st level Registered Children's Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Nurse or Registered Allied Health Professional
- First Degree
- Evidence of Post Basic Continuing Professional Development in Safeguarding Children and Adults
Desirable- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor or School Nurse Qualification)
