Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, compassionate and enthusiastic Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurse to join our Emergency Department at DBTH. Our Emergency Department offers a supportive and forward-thinking environment where professional development is actively encouraged. We are looking for individuals who can bring existing paediatric nursing knowledge and skills to the team while continuing to develop their expertise within emergency care.

We are seeking motivated and committed paediatric nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality care to children and young people in a dynamic emergency care environment. This role is ideally suited to nurses who are confident in their paediatric practice, demonstrate sound clinical judgement, and are keen to further develop their skills within a specialist area.

As part of our dedicated paediatric emergency team, you will work alongside experienced colleagues who are committed to delivering outstanding care and supporting ongoing professional development. You will have opportunities to contribute to service improvement initiatives, share best practice, and help shape the delivery of evidence-based care.

Main duties of the job
The Emergency Department is forward thinking and has a supported learning environment so that you will be able to build on your existing nursing skills for your future career and development.

As a Staff Nurse within the Emergency Department, you will be a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, providing safe, effective and compassionate care to children, young people and their families. You will be encouraged to contribute ideas, support innovation, and play an active role in maintaining high standards of patient care.

  • RSCN with NMC current registration
  • Up to date knowledge of professional issues

Desirable
  • Demonstrate professional development post-registration

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
  • Experience of working as a Registered Paediatric Nurse

Desirable
  • Completed 12 month preceptorship programme

Essential
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with multidisciplinary team/patient/relatives
  • Demonstrate a compassionate manner with an understanding disposition.
  • Be interested and committed to caring for people from any type of cultural background or illness
  • Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and good attendance
  • Precise and methodical in working practice and able to work under own initiative

  • Demonstrate an understanding of current local and national issues
