Job summary

If so we would like to hear from you.An opportunity has arisen for a registered Nursing Associate to join our respiratory service. As a Nursing Associate you'll play a key role in delivering safe, compassionate care to children and young people with acute and long -term respiratory needs. Working closely with Registered Nurses, you'll support assessment, monitoring and recovery while developing your clinical skills in a specialist paediatric environment. You'll be joining a friendly, progressive team across the two Respiratory Wards (Leopard and Kangaroo) which focuses on children and young people requiring respiratory medicine acutely and chronically. Main duties of the job
  • To provide direct patient care to an allocated group of patients including undertaking all required patient observations reporting any unusual results to the nurse in charge or your named supervisor
  • Promote, monitor, and maintain a healthy, safe and secure environment for patients, families and staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with the children, families, and staff.
  • Liaise with community teams, health visitors, nurses, social workers, and other health professional regarding patient progress record on EPIC system and liaise with clinical nurse specialist any changes that have occurred.
  • To act as point of contact for families and professionals calling the service, logging calls, and referring to appropriate persons.
  • To support and undertake any projects/audits initiated by the Trust or Unit
  • To work collaboratively with the wider department, Health Records department, medical secretaries, and other relevant departments at all times
  • To complete annual mandatory training and other training opportunities relevant to role.
  • To participate in additional training and development opportunities in order to enhance professional development
  • To participate in the annual performance review process identifying own objectives and produce a personal development plan in conjunction with your manager.

Experience/Knowledge
Essential
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
  • Understand requirements for NMC professional revalidation
  • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate

Desirable
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
