Job summary
GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

Trust Fellow in Diagnostic paediatric radiology at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We invite applications for a Year 6 Post CCT (or equivalent), full time 12-month post in diagnostic paediatric radiology at Great Ormond Street Hospital, GOSH. The applicant must have FRCR or equivalent and have previous paediatric radiology experience. You would join a team of 4 fellows and rotating radiology trainees in a department providing specialist paediatric plain film reporting, complex fluoroscopy, MRI and CT, nuclear medicine, with a possibility to gain experience in neuroradiology and paediatric interventional radiology. We do not have an Emergency Department at GOSH but the post holder can choose to gain acute paediatric imaging experience at another major London teaching hospital.

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is a postgraduate teaching hospital, linked with the UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH). The Trust has 368 beds and provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialties for tertiary level care.

The successful candidate must possess full GMC registration and have completed the FRCR (fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists) or equivalent.

The post will be a full-time post and the successful candidate will contribute to the paediatric diagnostic radiology Specialist Registrar on-call rota; which will be a 1 in 6 -7

Main duties of the job
The role is available to SpRs (or training equivalent) with an interest in a career in Paediatric radiology. The job is offered as a post CCT specialist 6th year Trust fellow post.

The successful applicant will be part of a team of 4 subspecialty trainees in paediatric radiology, who work alongside 5 or 6 trainees rotating to GOSH as part of their general training from other sites. This is a full time post with an on call commitment of 1 in 7 or 8

Juniors experience a high level of clinical supervision from a friendly and approachable Consultant body.

Trainees are encouraged to get involved in audit and research, and many high-quality audit studies, case reports and research studies have been carried out by trainees at GOSH over the past few years, resulting in prizes and publications.

Subspecialty trainees undergo regular educational supervision, and the training is tailored to their needs. Experience in general paediatric radiology, including A and E reporting and hip dysplasia sonography can be obtained through secondment to other sites in London, usually the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. We may also be able to provide subspecialist experience in interventional radiology, paediatric neuroradiology and nuclear medicine depending on the individual requirements.
