We have a very healthy, happy team of 18 GPs (Partners and Salaried). We have numerous other professions who support us. We have made a lot of progress on reducing paperwork. Letters are all read coded and actioned. A team of Pharmacy Techs make med changes and do med reviews. We are adopting AI Scribe.
The surgery can be reached from Brighton by bike. We are environmentally friendly and have a modern low carbon emission building with Ground Source Heat Pump and Solar Panels. We have a shower and are looking to install a bike shed.

Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesClinical ResponsibilitiesThe post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care as set by the regulatory and standard setting organisations, including but not limited to the duties below:
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations (face to face, telephone, video etc as appropriate), telephone consultations and queries, triage, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Respond to medical problems presented by all registered and temporary patients as required
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- To assist the nursing team in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions e.g. asthma, COPD
- Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties need for the delivery of the service
- Provide health promotion and advice, signposting patients to appropriate services to maximise their health and social functioning and their ability to self-manage their care.
- Be constantly mindful of the need for the provision of both personalised care and population health, including reducing health inequalities and ensure that these are reflected in daily practice.
- Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to practice protocols
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible) during the consultation
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- Participate in training plans of GP Registrars and Medical Students as required
Maintaining, Monitoring & Updating Computer Database and Management of Medical Records & Practice Audits- Ensure that the patients notes are accurate with information relating to the patient and for the recording requirements for QoF, Enhanced Services and other such work
- Respond to alerts on records
- Appropriate use of read codes
- Participation in the auditing of Practice activity
- Participation in patient satisfaction audits
Practice Organisation- Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence
- Undertake private medicals as required
- Attendance, where possible, at team meetings, significant event audit meetings, annual complaint audit meeting and others as deemed necessary
- Ensure that the Practice complaints system is adhered to at all times
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
- Completion of required training whether On-Line, in House or Externally
- Maintain current CPR and anaphylaxis certification
Professional Development- Keep up to date with personal appraisal, indemnity cover, re-validation, DBS and other compulsory requirements
- Engage in appropriate educational activity to maintain clinical competence and performance
- Attendance and participation in educational meetings in the Practice and externally

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Broad knowledge of Primary Care and fit with the wider clinical community
- Broad knowledge of the role of governance in ensuring high quality care and safe practice
- An understanding of practice management (including the relevant business and financial aspects)
- Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and handle uncertainty, using judgement to refer patients appropriately
- Ability to work successfully in a multi professional/disciplinary team and across organisational boundaries as well as autonomously
- Ability to appraise own performance, demonstrate insight and act on feedback
- An enterprising and dynamic approach to developing and diversifying the practice
- Positive approach to appraisal and job planning
- IT skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- GMC Registration and License to practice
