Main duties of the jobThe post holder will provide high-quality GP services to our practice population of approximately 6,300 patients, managing a wide range of acute, chronic and preventative healthcare needs.
The role will include:
- Face-to-face, telephone and online consultations.
- Home visits where clinically appropriate.
- Reviewing and actioning pathology results, correspondence, prescriptions and other clinical administration.
- Participation in the supervision, teaching and development of trainees and other members of the multidisciplinary team, as appropriate.
- Attendance and contribution to practice meetings, protected learning events and quality improvement activities.
- Working collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care.
About usThe successful applicant will join a friendly and supportive team comprising Dr Mannan (Principal GP), Dr Khan and Dr Oso (Salaried GPs), working alongside an experienced clinical, administrative and practice management team. Clinical support is provided by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses, a Nursing Associate, Healthcare Assistant and Phlebotomist, enabling us to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job responsibilitiesClinical Care- Provide high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse practice population.
- Undertake face-to-face, telephone and online consultations, together with home visits where clinically appropriate.
- Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, developing appropriate management plans and arranging follow-up where required.
- Prescribe safely and in accordance with local and national guidance.
Patient Management- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Review and action pathology results, clinical correspondence, prescriptions and other administrative tasks within agreed timeframes.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and make referrals to secondary care, community services and allied healthcare professionals as appropriate.
Preventative Healthcare- Promote health education, disease prevention and self-management.
- Support screening, immunisation and chronic disease management programmes to improve patient outcomes.
Team Working- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary practice and Primary Care Network teams to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care.
- Participate in practice meetings, protected learning events and quality improvement activities.

Professional Development- Maintain professional registration and participate in continuing professional development, appraisal and revalidation.

QualificationsEssential- General Medical Practitioner who is:
- Included in the list of medical practitioners maintained and published by NHS England in accordance with section 91 of the NHS Act 2006;
- a medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register kept by the General Medical Council under section 2 of the Medical Act 1983.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- The General Medical Practitioner is NOT:
- Prohibited from performing any such service by regulation 24 of the National Health Service (Performers Lists) (England) Regulations 2013;
- Suspended from the list of medical practitioners maintained and published by NHS England in accordance with section 91 of the NHS Act 2006 or from the registers kept under section 2 of the Medical Act 1983; and/or
- Subject to interim suspension under 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
Desirable- MRCGP
- Additional qualifications or special interests relevant to primary care.
- Evidence of CPD activities
ExperienceEssential- Experience of working in General Practice, either as a qualified GP or during GP Specialty Training.
- Experience of managing a broad range of acute and chronic conditions.
- Good understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Competent in maintaining accurate clinical records and using electronic patient record systems.
Desirable- Experience of EMIS Web.
- Experience of teaching, training or supervision.
