As a Band 5 Ward Nurse, you will join our friendly and supportive team on Harty Ward at Sheppey Community Hospital. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to patients as they recover, rehabilitate and regain independence. Harty Ward provides a calm, patient focused environment where you can deliver high quality, holistic care. You will work closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary team, building strong relationships with patients and their families while supporting them through their recovery journey. Whether you are newly qualified or an experienced nurse, you will be supported to grow and develop in a role where your skills and ideas are truly valued.

Job Introduction

We currently have one part time position available at 22.5 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities
In this role, you will deliver high quality, patient centered care on a busy but supportive community hospital ward. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care, ensuring patients receive safe and effective treatment throughout their stay. You will play a key role in supporting patients with their rehabilitation and recovery, encouraging independence and helping them prepare to return home or to a more independent setting. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will see the direct impact of your care. Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, you will communicate effectively, contribute to care planning and ensure a positive experience for patients and their families. Key responsibilities include:
  • Delivering safe, effective and compassionate patient care
  • Assessing, planning and evaluating individual care needs
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date patient records
  • Supporting patients and careers with clear information and guidance
  • Promoting a safe, clean and well organized clinical environment
  • Building positive working relationships with colleagues across the team
  • Working in line with NMC standards and professional guidelines

This is a 24 hour service, so flexibility to work a range of shifts including nights and weekends is essential.

Person Specification
Essential
  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC pin
  • A passion for delivering high quality patient centered care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office

Desirable
  • Experience within a ward or community hospital setting
  • An interest in rehabilitation and supporting patients to regain independence
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment
