Job summaryHomerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a specialist interest in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology. This full-time post offers the opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care to a diverse population. The role is designed to strengthen consultant presence across key services, enhance urgent hysteroscopy access, and support a busy Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, ensuring timely and effective patient care.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will provide expert clinical care across early pregnancy, acute gynaecology, and emergency services, including out-of-hours cover. Responsibilities include managing complex cases, contributing to delivery suite support, supervising junior medical staff, and actively participating in teaching, training, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. The postholder will also play a key role in service development, clinical governance, and improving patient experience while working collaboratively with senior clinical and management teams.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- On GMC's specialist register or a Specialist Registrar who is within 6 months of being admitted to the GMC's specialist register by date of interview
Desirable- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD, PhD)
- Subspeciality Training in EPAU and acute gynaecology
Relevant experience in specialty/subspecialtyEssential- Clinical training in high-risk obstetrics
- Clinical training in the prevention of preterm births including ultrasound skills to measure cervical lengths
DesirableClinical SkillsEssential- Able to deal with Emergency Gynaecology cases
- Delivery Suite skills in a high risk setting
