As a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant on a 16-bedded rehabilitation ward, you will work as an important member of the multidisciplinary team, providing compassionate, person-centred care and support to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.

You will assist patients with their daily care needs, including personal hygiene, nutrition and hydration, mobility, repositioning and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. Working under the direction and supervision of registered nurses and other healthcare professionals, you will encourage patients to participate in their care and develop greater independence wherever possible.

The role involves building positive relationships with patients, relatives and carers, supporting patients with dignity, kindness and respect, and recognising and reporting any changes in their condition or wellbeing to the appropriate member of the team.

You will contribute to a positive ward environment by working collaboratively with nurses, therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team. This is a rewarding role for someone who is caring, compassionate, reliable and motivated to make a positive difference to patients as they recover, rebuild their confidence and work towards returning to greater independence.

Main duties of the job

• Provide compassionate, respectful and person-centred care to patients, carers and relatives, helping to ensure every patient receives high-quality care and support at all times.
• Assist patients with essential activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, dressing and repositioning, under the supervision and guidance of a trained nurse.
• Support patients with dignity, kindness and patience, helping them to feel safe, comfortable and valued throughout their care.
• Work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team to contribute to the overall wellbeing and positive experience of patients.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential

• Knowledge of personal care and related procedures
• Be willing to undertake further training and development i.e venepuncture, ECG recording, recording observations, monitoring blood sugars.

• To possess a health related NVQ qualification or demonstrate willingness to work towards one.

Experience

• To demonstrate an understanding of provision of nursing care.
