Job summary
Ferryhill & Chilton Medical Practice are looking for an experienced HCA to join their team. They will be working under the direct supervision of the practice nurse lead and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of patient care.

Main duties of the job
To assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care, as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs. Duties to include;

• LTCs
• Urinalysis
• ECGs
• Peak flow readings
• 24 hr BP
• Venepuncture
• Blood pressure measurements
• Diabetic Foot checks
• Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
• Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
• Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
• Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
• Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
• Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
• Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
• Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
• Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
• Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
• Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
• Any other duties within skill set that may be required

About us
We are a very friendly, warm and welcoming practice with a 15,000 patient list size.

All staff are required to work between both Ferryhill & Chilton Practice.

We also cover Enhanced Access on a Monday evening 6pm- 8pm, one in four Friday's 6pm- 8pm and one in four Saturday's 9am 5pm.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• Maths & English GCSE grade 9-4

Experience
Essential

• HCA experience is essential
• Able to perform all duties in the job description is essential.

Desirable

• Experience of working in a GP practice
