Job summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Specialist Practitioner to join our CORE CAMHS service. Applications are welcomed from all core professional backgrounds (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy, creative therapy, AHPs with professional registration, or equivalent), who bring a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

In this role, you will work within a systemic, family-focused framework, delivering assessment and intervention using the Family Partnership Model. The post holder will manage a defined caseload of CORE CAMHS cases, supporting children and young people who present with moderate to severe mental health needs.

A key feature of this role is a strong emphasis on multi-agency collaboration and multidisciplinary team (MDT) working. You will play an integral role in coordinating care across services, ensuring a joined-up and holistic approach that places the child and family at the centre of all interventions.

Main duties of the job
  • Managing and maintaining a caseload of CORE CAMHS cases, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care undertaking comprehensive assessments and developing collaborative care plans.
  • Working systemically with families, using the Family Partnership Model to build therapeutic relationships and promote shared decision-making.
  • Actively contributing to and participating in MDT discussions, offering specialist insight to inform assessment, risk management, and intervention planning.
  • Developing strong and effective working relationships with partner agencies (e.g. education, social care, early help, voluntary sector), ensuring coordinated and integrated care.
  • Acting as a key worker in multi-agency meetings, advocating for the needs of children and families and supporting effective communication between services.
  • Promoting a culture of collaborative practice, safeguarding, and continuous improvement.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Education and Training
Essential
  • Diploma or Degree in Professional qualification equivalent to RMN, Registered Social worker, OT or equivalent AHP
  • Registration with the HCPC/NMC or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of the evidence-based relevant to the clinical area

Desirable
  • Diagnostic training
  • Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to be a Practice Placements for students.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
  • Appropriate knowledge/experience of working in the relevant service area
  • Evidence of working with individuals with Neurodiverse needs

Desirable
  • Evidence of specialist practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
  • Evidence of working with children and young people

Skills, Competencies and Personal Qualities
Essential
  • Ability to commute between the various sites
