Job summaryLaunceston Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Respiratory Nurse to join our Nursing team on a part time (2 days per week), permanent basis.
The ideal candidate will be able to provide the full range of Respiratory care.
The post holder is responsible for the delivery of Respiratory care, to provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients, as well as supporting the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team.
The focus of this role is both the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients presenting with a long-term condition and the provision of preventative health care to the patients.
Main duties of the job- Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate treatment programmes that promote health and well-being.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for patients with a known long-term condition.
- Proactively identify, diagnose, and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition as appropriate.
- Work with other health care professionals to diagnose, monitor, manage and treat long-term conditions, including non-drug-based treatment methods using a management plan, and in line with national and local policies and practice needs.

Job descriptionJob responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with respiratory conditions.
- Manage patients with conditions such as: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Asthma, Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), Pneumonia, Lung cancer, Sleep-disordered breathing and sleep apnoea.
- Conduct comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop individualised care plans.
- Monitor patients' clinical condition and respond appropriately to changes in health status.
- Educate patients and their families regarding respiratory conditions, treatment plans, and symptom management.
- Promote self-management techniques and adherence to medication.
- Support patients in managing exacerbations and recognising early warning signs of deterioration.
- Provide education on inhaler techniques and oxygen therapy equipment.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Adhere to infection prevention, safeguarding, and clinical governance standards.
- Participate in audits, service evaluations, and quality improvement projects.
- Support the implementation of national and local respiratory guidelines.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Respiratory Nursing qualification or equivalent specialist experience.
- Experience managing patients with long-term respiratory conditions.
- Knowledge of respiratory assessment and management.
Desirable- Experience of working in General Practice and/or primary care.
ExperienceEssential- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience managing patients with long-term respiratory conditions.
Desirable- Experience in service development or quality improvement initiatives.
