Job summary
A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacy leader to provide operational and professional leadership to help shape how our clinical pharmacy services develop into the future. As the Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader (CPTL) for Chapel Allerton Hospital & Associated Services you will oversee a dynamic and evolving workforce who champion excellence in clinical practice while managing diverse portfolios, spanning specialist disease groups and wider pharmacy responsibilities.

You will work with the Associate Lead Clinicians for Clinical Services, Medicines Finance and Medicines Procurement and Supply to deliver a programme of work which optimised the use of best value medicines in agreed clinical areas, with particular focus on those based at Chapel Allerton hospital. You will provide collaborative leadership across pharmacy services and partner specialities to achieve the agreed project plan related to individual medicines switches. You will contribute to the strategic direction for switching medicines at LTHT. You will also support developing the role of the Specialist Clinical Technician for homecare validation across pharmacy services.

As a nationally acclaimed centre for musculoskeletal research, Chapel Allerton Hospital provides a range of outpatient and inpatient services including rheumatology, dermatology, chronic rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, elective orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery.

Main duties of the job
  • To manage a team of pharmacists delivering specialist clinical pharmacy services to specified Clinical Service/Support Units (CSUs) within the Trust. To be the first point of contact, and support for the CSUs, on all matters relating to pharmacy.
  • Provide expert opinion, both within and outside pharmacy, to ensure the safe and effective delivery of drug therapy to defined clinical areas.
  • Provide pharmaceutical professional leadership for defined clinical areas by liaison with pharmacy operational services and key members of the CSU. Be responsible for professional leadership for specified area of Trust e.g. locality hospital.
  • The post holder will also perform the role of a lead clinical pharmacist to a defined clinical area. In this role, the post holder will ensure medicines are used appropriately, safely, and cost-effectively in accordance with Trust policy, standard operating procedures and medicine legislation. The post holder is expected to determine how the outcomes are best achieved in specific circumstances.

What you will bring to the role

It is essential you are a registrant with the General Pharmaceutical Council and having understanding and appreciation of local and national pharmaceutical and clinical strategies. You should have advanced clinical knowledge in a relevant area and very significant relevant post registration clinical pharmacy experience. You should be able to provide evidence of understanding and applying effective leadership strategies alongside highly developed influencing and negotiating skills. You must demonstrate lateral thinking skills and be a good problem solver. Excellent time management will be essential in this role.
