Job SummaryAn exciting new opportunity has arisen to appoint a second Deputy Head of Nursing for the Leeds Children's Hospital and to join a forward thinking and dynamic deputy triumvirate leadership team. We are looking for a compassionate, innovative, and forward-thinking nurse leader with an ambition and drive to develop our workforce of over 1000 brilliant nurses and clinical support workers. You will have a proven track record of successfully managing and leading nursing teams across a diverse range of services and for delivering high standards of quality care. You will work in partnership with the Head of Nursing to lead the implementation of the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy across the Childrens Hospital with an ambition to deliver new and innovative ways of working. You will need to utilise your expert operational and clinical knowledge to ensure effective delivery of nursing services and champion patient centred care ensuring safety, quality and patient experience are embedded in everything that we do.
Main duties of the jobAs a Deputy Head of Nursing you will managerially and professionally accountable to the Head of Nursing. You will be responsible for the leadership and management of the designated specialties within your Deputy Head of Nursing portfolio across the Children's Hospital. This includes line management responsibilities of registered and unregistered staff across the Children's Hospital and the management of specific clinical services/areas. You will work to support the Head of Nursing for all issues relating to nursing within the Children's Hospital and will be an integral part of the Senior Nursing leadership team.
The Deputy Head of Nursing will establish and foster effective working relationships with the Children's Hospital Triumvirate team and lead improvements in nursing, service delivery and the achievement of organisational priorities within the Children's Hospital. You will be required to hold a portfolio across either Nurse Education or Nursing Workforce for the Children's Hospital.
The Deputy Head of Nursing will also deputise for the Head of Nursing and engage with partners outside of the organisation. As a Deputy Head of Nursing you will be responsible for the delivery of safe, clinically effective and compassionate nursing care and provide assurance evidence to the Head of Nursing, Nurse Director (Operations)/Deputy Chief Nurse and Chief Nurse.
