Job Summary
We are looking for band 5 Staff Nurses to join our Critical Care Units at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.

If you are looking for a career in Critical Care Nursing, we have an exciting opportunity for band 5 Staff Nurses to join our Clinical Service Unit. Adult Critical Care consists of 5 Critical Care Unit Teams.

The Critical Care Units are:

• J54 General Critical Care, SJUH
• J81 Surgical-Oncology Critical Care SJUH
• L03 Neurosurgical Critical Care LGI
• L04 Cardiac Critical Care, LGI
• L06 General Critical Care LGI

We are looking for experienced, dynamic, motivated and compassionate Staff Nurses to join our teams on L03, L04, L06, J54 and J81 who can ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality patient centred care to the patients nursed within our critical care units.

There may be an opportunity for successful candidates to undertake a rotation across the 5 critical care units gaining vast experience from across the speciality.

The successful candidates will be expected to work clinically within the multi-disciplinary team, maintain high standards of practice and deliver outstanding critical care.

All applicants are required to have current UK NMC registration, with evidence of registrant clinical practice in the UK, or be a final‑year nursing student studying in the UK

Please note that Interviews for this post will be held face-to-face only to enable participation in a scenario-based assessment therefore applicants must be able to attend in-person.

What you will bring to the role
To provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised programmes of care.

• To deliver care without supervision.
• To take charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse.
• To participate in the in-service training, preceptorship, and mentorship of junior staff, post basic learners and students.
• To take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients.
• To promote confidence in our commitment to provide excellent compassionate patient care.
• To maintain personal development.

The jobholder will work within an environment caring for adult patients.

Criteria
Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or 2
Has current registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register
Current issues in health care
Awareness of speciality
Caring, Compassionate and motivated
Reliable and trustworthy
Excellent interpersonal skills
Good written and verbal skills
Able to provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care
Ability to organise and prioritise workload
Understanding of skills and knowledge required to develop team members
Capable of lateral thinking
Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post
