Job Summary
The post would appeal to anyone who has an established interest in Mental Health Services for General Psychiatry. You will need to ensure that people who use services, carers and advocates are treated with respect and dignity. Main Duties of the Job
We want a Consultant Psychiatrist who can deliver the highest quality of clinical care to our patents and carers.

The post holder will be required to work in partnership at both strategic and operational levels with relevant and external stakeholders. The post holder will need to ensure that people who use services, carers and advocates are treated with respect and dignity

You will provide excellent clinical leadership and actively develop your team along with expert advice to our hospital and community specialists, managers and directors on what is needed to deliver excellent care and to develop future strategic directions.

The consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients and for the proper functioning of the department. The consultant will liaise with the general practitioners, hospital and community specialists and other agencies wherever relevant.

Job Responsibilities
Job Overview
We are now seeking to recruit Consultant Psychiatrists to join our community mental health services on a full time or part time basis. We are really pleased that you are seeking a career at LPT, you will work in partnership with members of well-established multi-disciplinary teams, both operationally and strategically to drive forward innovation delivering the best effective care for our patients.

Every opportunity will be given to encourage personal initiatives, research, specialist interests, teaching, training, management, and leadership, as well as arears of professional specialist interest you may have.

Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners, who have or are eligible for, a CCT or an equivalent approved indicator of training and eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register within six months of the interview date.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRC Psych or equivalent
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or equivalent within 6 months of the interview date
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment

Desirable
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
  • Additional clinical qualifications
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

Experience
Essential
  • Clinical expertise in specialty / sub specialty
  • Excellence clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
  • Influencing Able to influence others, adapting style and content to meet situational requirements
  • Leadership Able to manage and lead a multi-disciplinary team
  • Communication Able to communicate at all levels and to people from a wide range of cultures
  • Motivator Sees opportunities and progresses them. Keeps abreast of developments and incorporates these into own or team practice
  • Able to undertake on call duties
  • Able to undertake work in the community and travel to LPT sites

Desirable
  • Wide range of specialist and sub specialist experience within NHS or comparable service
  • Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations, publications
  • Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients
