Job Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team within the Directorate of Mental Health, based at The Willows, in the Humberstone area of Leicester.

The Willows is a rehabilitation inpatient unit providing care for patients who have severe and enduring mental illness. We support service users to gain or regain their confidence and skills in everyday activities which promotes a positive approach to long-term recovery.

We have 2 vacancies based at The Willows, one is on Maple Ward and the other is on Sycamore Ward.

Maple Ward is a level 2 rehabilitation ward and Sycamore Both ward is an Acute Step Down ward where service users are stepped down from the Bradgate Mental Health Unit.

We are looking for people who are motivated to work in a service that offers a recovery-orientated approach, delivering person-centred care through collaboration involvement.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Deputise and take charge of the given area regularly in the absence of the Sister / Charge Nurse who has 24 hour accountability and responsibility.
  • To contribute to care quality performance and clinical activity by providing professional nursing leadership and guidance, clinical advice and management in relation to the key dimensions of health care quality.
  • To participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the ward team.
  • To actively contribute to the improvement of service and quality of care provision to meet the needs of clients/service users, service users and their families.
  • To act as role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.
  • To work collaborate with other senior nurses across LPT as appropriate and promote the role of their speciality nursing to all stakeholders.
  • To foster a culture of networking in an open and transparent approach with internal and external MDTs and between all stakeholders.
