Job summary
To be responsible for the clinical and operational management of the Directorate working with Associate Director and Head of Service to ensure that the clinical, business and operational performance standards are achieved.

Main duties of the job
Operational Leadership/Performance

Provision of strategic clinical input and ensuring appropriate advice to the Chief of Service, Chief Executive, Executive Directors and Trust Board.

Manage and plan how services are delivered and contribute to the process of strategic planning, influencing and responding to organisational priorities. This will involve responsibility for agreeing an annual Directorate Service Plan, identifying service development priorities and working with the Chief of Service and other executives to align Directorate Service Plans with the Trust and wider Health Economy plans.

Establish, develop and implement the clinical audit function within the Directorate based on the framework of overall clinical governance provisions of the organisation.

Manage all resources efficiently and effectively to ensure financial balance for the Directorate.

Essential
  • Registered clinician in good standing with a regulatory body.

Skills
Essential
  • Excellent communication and personal skills
  • Demonstrable skills in multi-professional working.
  • Commitment to meeting national and local service standards
  • Commitment to meeting financial and other requirements.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of national service standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of finance, Income and tariff.

Experience
Essential
  • Able to demonstrate achievements as a Clinical Leader.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Trust policies and procedures and their application.
  • Ability to manage consultant and non-career grade medical staff.
  • Willingness to be a consultant appraiser.

Desirable
  • Training in Clinical leadership and/or Medical Management.
  • Trained as a consultant appraiser.
