Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Ward 78 for a Band 6 Clinical Educator.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Ward 78's Ward Manager and the senior nursing team to ensure all staff, particularly new starters are supported to learn and develop new specialist skills.

You will be committed to improving quality of care and the patient experience. The role is challenging and interesting with the opportunity to expand and develop your own knowledge and skills within a supportive team.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Ward 78's Ward Manager with particular focus on;

• Bedside training and education, for staff, patients and carer's.
• Supporting classroom teaching on Neurosciences, Trauma and Orthopaedic, Spinal and ENT conditions and nursing care.
• Working alongside the MFT's education team becoming involved in the teaching of AIMs and trust induction
• Working alongside staff to coordinate and teach complex discharge management and coordination.
• Leadership and professional role modelling through ward round preparation and coordination, complex communication, challenging practice as required and celebrating achievement as it occurs.
• Review of pathways to identify training needs of staff and ensure appropriate education.
• Review of local guidelines and protocols to ensure up to date and accessible to staff.
• To continue to review and update the ward education strategy to ensure appropriate knowledge and skills of ward staff.
• To participate in teaching/ training for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital "New Staff Induction Programme.
• Supporting the ward manager to ensure quality, safety and patient experience.

What is a DBS Check?
A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:

• Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.
• Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police thats considered relevant to the role.
• Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the childrens and/or adults barred lists.

Who Needs a DBS Check

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

Essential

• RN (Child) / RSCN
• Evidence of CPD in relevant speciality
• Evidence of level 3 studies
• Qualified to function as mentor for pre registration students

• Appropriate management or leadership course

Experience

• Substantial post registration experience with significant experience within relevant clinical setting
• Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice
