Job SummaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Pharmacist to join the Women's and Children's (W&C) team working at MFT on the Oxford Road Campus. The W&C service is part of the MFT Specialist Hospitals Clinical Group , delivering tertiary level specialist care to a wide range of specialities and patient groups. Developing expert professional knowledge in Paediatric Rheumatology and Dermatology specialities, you will deliver a high-quality, patient focused, clinical pharmacy service to both inpatient and outpatient service users.

Main duties of the job- To be responsible for the provision of a high quality comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to your area of responsibility ensuring safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs in often complex patients.
- To be responsible for clinical governance in your area of responsibility including: horizon scanning, new drug submissions, guideline development, risk management and audit.
- To be the highly specialist clinical pharmacist within your area of responsibility, advising and educating pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals on all aspects of medicines management.
- To provide clinical and professional supervision of junior pharmacists, technicians, assistant technical officers and students.
- To line manage a limited number of band 6 and/or 7 pharmacists.
- To be responsible for the safe day to day operations within your areas of responsibility.
- To deputise for the Lead Clinical and Directorate pharmacist in your area of responsibility.
- To be involved in the strategic planning and development of specialist services in line with local and national objectives within your areas of responsibility.

QualificationsEssential- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist
- Vocational Masters degree (or equivalent) in Pharmacy
- Post-graduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy
Desirable- Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain
- Member of National/International Specialist Organisation in area of responsibility
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
KnowledgeEssential- Extensive post-qualification experience in a relevant role practicing as a hospital pharmacist
- Expert clinical knowledge and skills
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable- Awareness of current National, Trust and local policies
- Evidence of research experience or conducting clinical audit
SkillsEssential- Excellent analytical/problem solving skills particularly with respect to use of medicines in complex situations
