Job summary
Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Specialist Audiologist on a fixed-term basis. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality audiological services across our Audiology department. Your primary focus will be on supporting adult pathways, helping patients regain confidence in their hearing and improving their overall quality of life. This fixed-term post offers the opportunity to develop your clinical skills within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, while contributing to the continued delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care. Main duties of the job
  • You will be joining an IQIPS accredited Audiology service, where you will be expected to provide high-quality care to patients attending Audiology and/or ENT services.
  • You will be required to undertake routine diagnostic assessment of adult patients (and children as required), fit and maintain NHS hearing aids, and participate in all routine clinical duties within the department.
  • You will also support key operational responsibilities, including assisting with the coordination of equipment calibration and maintenance to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
  • You will be expected to contribute to the day-to-day running of the department and support service development where appropriate.
  • You will participate in the supervision and support of BSc students and junior staff, under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  • You will work with adults and children (where required), planning and delivering diagnostic testing and rehabilitation programmes tailored to patient needs.
  • You will plan and manage your own caseload, ensuring timely and effective patient care.
  • You will contribute to data collection, audit activity, and service improvement initiatives within the department.

Job responsibilities
For details job description please refer to the attached JD. Some of the responsibilities are as follows:
  • You will also be expected to assist in the daytoday running of the Audiology Department, ensuring effective and safe service delivery.
  • You will provide highquality diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services to adult patients and, where appropriate, children, including those with complex needs.
  • You will be required to undertake routine and specialist audiological assessments, interpret results, and develop appropriate rehabilitation plans, including the fitting and maintenance of NHS hearing aids.
  • You will support key operational responsibilities within the department, including assisting with the coordination of equipment calibration and maintenance to ensure compliance and clinical safety.
  • You will be expected to participate in the supervision, support, and training of BSc students and junior members of staff, under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  • You will work with patients and their families, using effective communication skills to deliver personcentred care and support positive clinical outcomes.
  • You will develop a specialist interest area and contribute to the ongoing development of that area within the service.
  • You will plan and manage your own caseload of patients, ensuring timely assessment, intervention, and followup.
  • You will contribute to audit, data collection, and service improvement initiatives within the department.
  • You will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including ENT colleagues, to support integrated patient care.

Qualifications
Essential
  • BSc Audiology (or equivalent)
  • Registration with AHCS or HCPC

Desirable
  • MSc Audiology

Experience
Essential
  • NHS Experience

Desirable
  • Experience with AuditBase
  • Wide experience with adult Audiology diagnostics
