Job overviewThis is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and friendly Dietetic service working across the Borough of Waltham Forest in north east London. The post holder will be able to consolidate their knowledge and gain wider experience in a range of services including nutrition support, diabetes, home enteral feeding and also be able to mentor students within NELFT. We actively promote the use of digital technologies for consultations and are developing our online resource hub to support the patient experience.
The successful candidate will have their own caseload and typically cover a specific geographic area; run their own clinics face to face &/or virtual and conduct home visits as required. Newly qualified Dietitians will be fully supported via individual sessions with their designated supervisor, monthly adult team meetings and the NELFT preceptorship programme which lasts between 9 -12 months. As a professional you are expected to seek assistance from more senior members of the team if you need it and also to follow guidance from your supervisor if asked to do so.

Main duties of the jobTo be responsible for organising and prioritising own workload in the Nutrition & Dietetic service and to accept reasonable tasks delegated to you by senior staff
To be professionally curious in your day-to-day role and to act upon findings appropriately.
To maintain own competency to practice through CPD activities, knowledge of the Trusts policies and national standards.
To attend regular one to one supervision sessions, to develop a personal development plan and to engage in annual appraisals.
To ensure effective risk management by feeding into the weekly safety huddle, reporting incidents and escalate risks as necessary.
To supervise pre-registration students.
To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesClinical Skills- To act as an autonomous, registered practitioner.
- To be responsible, and accountable, for service delivery to clients/patients.
- To undertake assessments of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies.
- To monitor patient progress and alter intervention as needed.
- To ensure practice is supported by research, evidence-based practice or literature review.
- To produce and review new literature, presentations or online resources.
- To be able to initiate referrals to other health professional specialist services and agencies.
- To provide patients and relatives with information and education thus ensuring they have meaningful choices that promote dignity, independence and quality of life.
- To undertake as directed data collection for use in service audit and research projects
Leadership- To contribute positively to the development of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service. Attend and contribute to department meetings, CPD, Journal Club and other appropriate meetings.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
