Job SummaryAn exciting opportunity to work within an innovative and friendly Essex SET CAMHS Eating Disorder Service. We are a friendly team covering Essex, Southend and Thurrock, based at Widford Hall in Chelmsford Essex. We are looking for a Dietician that is seeking an opportunity to work in SET CAMHS Eating Disorder Service, working in the ARFID Pathway (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), undertaking joint assessment with the SET CAMHS Eating Disorder Learning Disability Nurse. Offering dietetic support to children and young people diagnosed with ARFID and Eating Disorder. The post holder will work with the CAMHS Manager and Clinical leads to help support the delivery of dietetic support and share clinical oversight across the service. They will be responsible for assessment, developing and monitoring meal plans with parents and young people, offer consultation to CAMHS hub team delivering treatment for ARFID. The post holder would require a Professional Registration (HCPC). This post would suit clinicians with experience working with children/ young people who present with eating difficulties, adapting support for young people with neurodevelopment issues and working with the wider systems including education, social care, Acute Hospital, Psychiatric Hospitals and family/carers.
Main duties of the jobClinical skills required:
- Nutritional Assessment: Evaluating the children/young people diet for caloric adequacy and specific deficiencies (such as iron, calcium, or vitamins A, C, and B12). Monitor weight changes and faltering growth.
- Mechanical & Structured Eating: Helping children/young people who lack interest in food or struggle with hunger cues by establishing structured meal schedules and pacing tools.
- Food Chaining & Exposure: Offering consultation to CAMHS Clinicians on how to formulate patient-led strategies to safely expand food variety.
- Managing Sensory Overload: Offer psycho-education to children/young people on how to process and articulate sensory experiences to reduce fear and sensory-based avoidance.
- Medical Nutrition Therapy: Prescribing oral nutritional supplements to safely bridge nutritional gaps or collaborating with the medical team if enteral feeding is required in severe cases.
Experience of complex risk formulation and collaborative safety planning. Experience of partnership working across systems around a child or young person and their family.
