Job summary

If so, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to work within the Barnet CAMHS Generic Team based across the Holly Oak Clinic in Edgware Community Hospital and the Oak Lane Clinic in East Finchley. Barnet CAMHS prides itself in working from a multi-disciplinary approach, informed and embedded within the iThrive Framework. There is a strong focus on further developing clinician's skillsets and learning from each other. We offer high-quality individual and group supervision with a Clinical Psychologist, as well as space for reflective practice. There are many CPD opportunities within the team and across BEH. Main duties of the job
The postholder will be a psychology graduate (with a 2:1 or higher degree and graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society). We are looking for someone who has experience and skills in working with young people experiencing mental health difficulties, working within a multidisciplinary team. Candidates for the role will require at least 6 months experience of working with young people within a CAMHS setting. There will be opportunities to co-facilitate a range of group interventions and coproduction groups, as well as offering individual therapeutic support to young people and their parents/carers. There will be a key role in administering, analysing and feeding back on outcome measures and writing clinical reports. The post holders will also support the team in coordinating our waiting lists and completing service level audit projects as part of quality and development initiatives. Responsibilities will also include liaison with allied professionals, contributing to the sharing of psychological knowledge and case discussion. Knowledge of the local CAMHS pathways will be essential. The role will require flexibility and a capacity to work responsively in a variety of situations, working closely with colleagues and other agencies involved in our service users' care.

  • 1. Working as part of CAMHS to improve the experience of Children & Young People presenting in mental health crisis.
  • 2.To facilitate service user participation within the Quality Improvement project, alongside the project leads, including recruitment, engagement of young people and families.
  • 3. To collate, analyse and present outcome data connected to the CAMHS.
  • 4. Potential to offer psychological support to an identified service user/s under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychological or equivalent practitioner.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • An upper second-class honours degree or higher in psychology.
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (Graduate Basis for Registration)
Desirable
  • Further post graduate training in relevant areas of applied psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis

Skills/Abilities
Essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with service users, their families, carers and with other professional staff
  • Skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and databases
  • Ability to work within a team and to form good working relationships with others in a multiprofessional setting
  • Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively

Experience/knowledge
Essential
  • At least 6 months CAMHS experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Barnet CAMHS pathways and waiting lists
Desirable
  • Previous NHS work experience
