Barnet CAMHS SCAN Team - Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner (Full time)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner to join the Barnet CAMHS SCAN Team at North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT).

The SCAN Team provides specialist assessment and intervention for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Learning Disabilities and behaviours that challenge.

The successful candidate will undertake specialist behavioural assessments and deliver evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support interventions that improve wellbeing, reduce behaviours of concern and enhance quality of life. This includes developing person-centred formulations and support plans tailored to the needs of children, young people and their families.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will collaborate with families, schools, social care, healthcare professionals and partner agencies to provide coordinated, holistic support. They will offer consultation, training and guidance while promoting Positive Behaviour Support principles and best practice across the service.

Main duties of the job
Manage a caseload of children and young people requiring Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) interventions within Barnet CAMHS SCAN. Undertake behavioural and functional assessments, identify factors contributing to behaviours of concern, and develop person-centred PBS plans.

Deliver evidence-based interventions, therapeutic support and psychoeducation relating to neurodevelopmental conditions, emotional regulation, sensory needs and behavioural management. Monitor outcomes, review interventions, undertake risk assessments and contribute to safeguarding and multi-agency risk management processes.

Work collaboratively with families and carers, providing behavioural support, coaching and practical strategies to improve wellbeing, reduce family stress and strengthen relationships.

Provide specialist PBS consultation to schools, CAMHS clinicians, social care and partner agencies. Participate in multidisciplinary, safeguarding and EHCP meetings to support coordinated care and positive outcomes.

Develop and deliver training, workshops and group programmes for families, staff and partner organisations, promoting PBS principles and least restrictive practice.

Contribute to service development, audits, quality improvement projects and implementation of NICE guidance and evidence-based practice. Maintain accurate clinical records, participate in supervision and CPD, and adhere to Trust policies on safeguarding, governance, equality, diversity and inclusion.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. Job responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and young people referred to the service.
• Formulate and implement treatment and care plans using evidence-based approaches.
• Deliver a range of therapeutic interventions to children, young people, carers, families and groups.
• Develop, implement and review Positive Behaviour Support plans.
• Undertake Functional Behaviour Assessments and behavioural formulations.
• Provide specialist PBS consultation, advice and guidance to professionals.
• Assess and manage clinical and safeguarding risks.
• Act as Care Coordinator where appropriate.
• Contribute to CPA reviews and multidisciplinary care planning.
• Support transitions to Adult Mental Health Services where required.
• Undertake medication monitoring and psychoeducation clinics alongside medical colleagues.
• Communicate clinical information sensitively to children, families and professionals.
• Support the management of challenging behaviour presentations.
• Participate in CAMHS duty and urgent response systems.
• Champion SEND principles and inclusive practice across Barnet CAMHS
