Main duties of the jobTo provide support to the multi professional team, by undertaking appropriate duties following assessment and planning of requirements by the urgent care practitioner. Additionally, to provide support by undertaking non nursing and ancillary duties.

Job responsibilitiesMain duties include completing observations on adults, children & babies. This also involves being able to identify observations outside of normal limits and escalating appropriately. This role also includes the completion of ECG's, urinalysis & blood sugars, as well as the application & removal of plaster casts, application of splints, and wound cleaning and closure.- Maintains effective communication and good relationships with children, parents, carers, relatives and staff.
- Accept delegated duties within parameters of capabilities and competencies.
- Complete documentation in accordance with Trust policy
- Participate in programmes of in-service training as required
- Chaperoning of children during medical examinations
- Maintain a standard of conduct and dress to sustain public confidence and promote the profile of health care employees.
- Contribute to the prevention and management of untoward occurrences by responding to emergencies, summoning appropriate assistance, reassurance until qualified staff available, maintenance of privacy/dignity/confidentiality, maintenance of a safe working environment.
- Clerical duties associated with the efficient management of the paediatric service including answering the telephone and relaying messages.
- Checking and maintaining stock levels.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Level 3 in appropriate subject (or on pathway) or equivalent qualification/experience
- literacy and numeracy skills level 2 or grade 4 or above in English and maths
Desirable- Working within an acute setting
- NVQ level 2 childcare
- A level Health and social care
ExperienceEssential- Recent relevant experience in acute care
KnowledgeEssential- Ability to assess, plan deliver and evaluate quality care
- Ability to meet basic care needs
- Ability to escalate clinical concerns appropriately
